So Sweet Freebie Friday #53

So sweet is exactly what this card is.  I started out with this card as a Valentine Card.  HOWEVER, after finishing it I really think you could use this card for any event.  I saw that beautiful washi tape sitting on my craft counter and it was calling my name.  Melon Mambo, Black and White all go together so nicely.

Here is a video to show you how I got the ink splatters on this card and the rest of the card assembly.  Next time you make a card try adding ink splatter.  It’s so fun.

Curvy Box Pumpkins, Monsters & Mummy’s oh my…

I have several very talented team members.  Today’s blog post I am sharing all of Dreamia Toloso’s fabulous hand made pumpkins, monsters & mummys.  She teaches classes in Louisiana, if you live in that area and would like to attend classes please look her up here: DREAMIA’s CREATIONS.  You can also follow her Facebook page HERE.

You haven’t even seen the cutest part yet.  Check out the mummy’s and the monster.  You can see my Tips & Tricks below for how to make some of these items.

Tips & Tricks:
  • Curvy Box:  The Curvy Box Framelit can be found in the 2014 Stampin’ UP! Holiday Catalog.  It’s fantastic for making all kinds of cute things.
  • The Mummy:  Dreamia created the mummy wraps by cutting several strips of curvy paper and then inking the edges and adhering them down to the box.  The eyes where punched using the circle punches and neatly tucked under the strips to give the appearance they are peeking out.
  • The Pumpkins:  Dreamia used the Work of Art stamp set to stamp the lines on the pumpkin.  She used Pumpkin Pie card stock and pumpkin pie ink, because what else would you use on a pumpkin, right!?  The leaves are cut and stamped using the Flower Patch Bundle.  The strips of curly paper were most likely wrapped around a pencil to be given a curl.  The adorable acorn was cut from the Autumn Accents die and the top was probably colored with blendabilities to be made darker.
  • The Monster:  Using Basic Black and Old Olive card stock to create these adorable monsters was the perfect idea.  She used fringe scissors one one of the monsters to create his hair and hand cut the points on the other monster.  These monsters are created from the Fry Box Die.
Great job Dreamia.  You can place orders in Dreamias online store.

Wowza Wednesday #6 You Little Turkey

Back by popular demand.  Another treat holder creature.  This time I went with Turkey.  Since you know, we are about two months from the Thanksgiving Holiday.  These would make really cute favors to have on the table for everyone.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Heat Embossing:  I did not favor the heat embossing in Gold on this card.  I ended up settling on Crushed Curry for my embossing because it really popped so much better.
  • Products:  I realized when I was creating this blog post that there are lots of different products used on this card.  I want to share that if you need to simplify it you could make the feathers by cutting ovals and folding them in half and then snipping in close to the fold line in order to make a fringe.
  • Sleepy eyes:  There is just something about cutting those top punches on the eyes in half and layering them on that makes your turkey look sleepy or lazy.

Here is my video on how to put this little turkey together.

Happy Anniversary

Today I celebrate my 8th wedding anniversary with my hubby.  He is truly my better half.  We complete each other in so many ways.  I am madly in love with him.  No one on the planet can make me feel intense love and passion, and anger in the same week like he can. HAHA!  He’s the best thing that ever happened to me.  He brought me my precious little girl and he made me believe in true love.  The kind of love that doesn’t give up, that is real, and true.  It’s no fairy tale like the movies, it’s so much better.  I pray that we are always this in love and this happy, and I pray that if there is a moment in time that we aren’t God will fix us.  (I’m not sayin’ we don’t have our days..but 98% of them are good, the other 2% aren’t worth giving weight to)

I thought I would share a wedding photo and a couple of our honeymoon photos.  I am so excited that we get to go back to Hawaii next year with our little girl.  I earned the Grand Vacation with Stampin’ UP! and we were thrilled it was a Hawaiian vacation.  I cannot wait.  It will be like a second honeymoon but better because we can share it with our baby.

That white parrot on Kevin’s shoulder pecked the little knobby thing on the top of his hat off and one of the parrots crapped on my foot.  It was super funny.  We were under attack.

Happy Anniversary Baby…. Here is to MANY MANY more years to come.

Founders Circle Travel and Arrival

Hey Everyone,
Today I want to share some fun pictures with you from my first day at Founders Circle.  What an amazing adventure this is turning out to be.

The flight was great.  No problems at all.  Katina traveled with me, she earned Founders Circle also.  It is pretty exciting to have one of my downline on this trip with me.

Here we arrived at the Las Vegas airport.  There was a fella holding a Stampin’ UP! sign for us.  I was feeling pretty special.  I’ve never had anyone hold a sign at an airport for me 🙂

Passing through Las Vegas.  I had to take a shot of the casinos.  I’ve never been to Las Vegas so it was pretty cool to see all the gigantic buildings as we went through.

The view as we got closer to St George was gorgeous.  I’ve never been to Arizona or Southern Utah, so all the red rock and stuff was a totally new experience for me.  It was gorgeous.  The picture does not do it justice.

When we arrived at the hotel this was hanging out front.  A small taste of what was to come.

Here is inside the Holiday Lodge as they are calling it.  The whole theme of this years Founders Circle is “Home for the Holidays” which I LOVE.  I love the holidays and specifically Christmas.  So I loved this feel and look.  You can see more of the decorations below.  I think I might have to try some of this stuff for Christmas decor this year.

FINALLY, my room.  Isn’t it pretty?  I don’t know what I am going to do for 4 nights all by myself, but I am thinking movies and popcorn are on the list 🙂

This is the view from my balcony.

After a quick rest in the room it was time for dinner.  YES, formal dining.  Can you believe it?  Talk about pampered.  The table settings were gorgeous.  We were served our meals and it was so yummy as you can see below 🙂

Shelli Gardner, CEO of Stampin’ UP! gave a welcome speech.  It was so awesome.

After dinner we came back to our rooms and there was another pillow gift on our beds.  It had beautiful goodies in it that I can’t show you yet 😉  But let me say they are so FUN!

Thanks for coming by.  Come back tomorrow for Freebie Friday and more photos!

Wowza Wednesday #5 Founders Circle Swap Cards

Welp here they are.  These are my 2014 Founders Circle Swaps.  I really think they turned out great.  I absolutely love the Holiday Home stamp set and Framelits.  They are adorable.  I’ve seen so many cute things done with this stamp set.  I am really hoping to do a few of them in the coming weeks.

I will be traveling to Founders Circle today! YAY!  I am so excited.  This is the second year I have earned this achievement but was unable to attend the retreat last year.  It feels like my first time earning in a way.  I will be keeping you posted on how it’s going this week 🙂

Here is my video.

Tips & Tricks

  • Sponging:  I don’t show it in the video but using a sponge in a swirling motion is a great way to add texture and color to white card stock. Or even color card stock.  You just dip the sponge directly into your ink pad and then use a swirling motion over your card stock.
  • Gold Encore Ink:  I would suggest using your heat tool on the Gold Encore Ink and the Silver for that matter.  They don’t set up very well on their own and need a little help.
  • Make a Scene:  No, don’t throw a fit. I mean, make a scene with our cards.  sometimes when I am creating a card I am not always trying to convey something visual, sometimes I am trying to convey a feeling.  That is what I was trying to do with this card.  You know at the beginning of fall when it is still warm out, but not hot, and the leaves have fallen and the world seems still and quiet in the mornings and the air is crisp.  I love that time of year.  I tried to make this card feel like that time of year.  Sometimes when you are creating close your eyes and think about how something feels and then try to convey that through your work.  It’s fun to do.  Takes some practice but you’ll get there.

Here is my list of supplies.  Click on any of the images below to order in my online store.

CCC13 Creative Challenge Monday

The photo of this card really doesn’t do it justice.  I couldn’t get my lighting just right so I feel like you don’t see the richness in this card that it is in person.  So sorry.

Here is what the challenge looks like.  Please go over to Creative Challenge Club and play along with us. Last week we were able to giveaway a $15 shopping spree! YAY!  We would love to do that again.

Here is the video on how to put my version of the card together.

Tips & Tricks

  • Heat Embossing: Best tip about heat embossing is to use your embossing buddy.  It’s a little duster thing you use before you stamp and put your powder on.  I ALWAYS FORGET THIS STEP, and I regret it later.  It keeps your embossing powder from sticking all over your paper.
  • The rule of odd #’s:  In any design having odd numbers is good.  Thus the 3 circles instead of say 4 circles.  It’s good to have odd numbers, not just in card making, but in home decor and/or party decor.
  • Pops of color:  This card is basically monochromatic except for the obvious Melon Mambo pop of color.  This brings the card to life.  Using a bring color against neutral muted colors is generally a good thing.

You can order any of the supplies you see in the video in my online store here:
